Never heard of Paul Smith?
If not for the internet, then you never would have heard of him. This may sound odd to you but Paul Smith has absolutely no interest in being in the "lime light", in "fame" or in "glory." He has no aspirations of "signing" with a BIG LABEL that only has a profit driven mentality and focuses solely on the bottom line. They have a track record of eating up musicians for lunch, chewing them up and then spitting them out when they are through with them. Paul has been down that "musician" road and it doesn't appeal or interest him anymore at all. Now his objective is much more simple and pure. He simply loves to make music, lovely beautiful music that is wholesome, relaxing, easy to listen to, and that you will enjoy.

Who is Paul Smith?
Paul is an independent musician, a member
of ASCAP and a song writer. He began
playing and singing professionally in the 70's
with a duo called "Brisky
Winds." The
group was named after a song written by
Paul (You will find that song on his second
album, Eastern Shore, it's the 4th track).
They were located in Indianapolis, Indiana
but traveled to many
Midwestern states
as musicians tend to do. Currently Paul is
living on the Eastern Shore coast of
Maryland where he has been for the last
fifteen years or so. It is here that he has
been writing and recording more original
songs and making them available on the net.
Originally Paul was only recording some of
his favorite folk style songs written by other
artists like James Taylor, John Denver, Jim
Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, Peter, Paul and
Mary and Paul Simon. As
requested by his
listeners, Paul works solely on original songs.

FREE finger picking lessons too!
Here at Paul Smith Music .net you will find FREE lessons on how to finger pick guitar.
You can learn to finger pick guitar just like Paul Simon, John Denver, Gordon Lightfoot, Jim Croce & others,
and of course just like Paul Smith!
Yes, Paul Smith is going to teach you how to play the guitar
just the way he does and he's going to do it ABSOLUTELY FREE of charge.
He will also teach you how to use finger picks, so that your
picking will have lots of volume and be clear and bright.
The first song that Paul Smith learned to finger pick
was Cathy's Song by Paul Simon. That was in 1971.
All that Paul had to help him was some crude tablature
written on a napkin by a friend (Doug Taylor) and the original recording
itself by Paul Simon. It was not an easy task, but he did it!
Paul Smith wants it to be easier for you!
So Paul Smith is offering this as a service on Paul Smith Music .net
You will find clear, easy to understand text to help you
know HOW to practice and get the most benefit. Also,
there is easy to follow tablature and mp3 audio samples
to listen to, to help you get the correct rhythms down for
all of the many different finger picking patterns on this site.

you will be back sooner or later for the rest!"
About the Relax and Reminisce CD

"Nicely done"
Rating: 10 (scale 1-10)
"Paul Smith is a rare talent in a category that is flooded with an abundance of poorly
performed songs. I highly recommend checking out Paul Smith's scene. Much love from
the PStarR family circle!!! 10."
Reviewer: Robert
Paul Smith's rendition of time tested songs by
Lightfoot, Taylor, Yarrow, Dylan and Stookey, including three Paul Smith originals
will leave you satisfied, gratified and mesmerized. Over 50 minutes of music at its best.

"All Those Lightfoot Covers!"
If you like folk music done the old fashioned way, you'll love this CD Relax And Reminisce
I bought it because of the Lightfoot songs. I wasn't disappointed.
What a great find!
About the Eastern Shore CD
Reviewer: Robert
More of the same high quality music that is offered in Relax
and Reminisce. You will find yourself turning up the volume a little so you
can fall into the harmonizing vocals of Brisky Winds. When the last note of
the Ballad of the Yarmouth Castle fades into the distance, in addition to
having just heard a great song you will feel like you were actually on the
Yarmouth Castle and shared in the experience. I would also challenge anyone not
to have a tear in their eye after hearing Best Friend Too.
Reviewer: Kathleen Pflieger
Paul Smith is an Eastern
Shore TROUBADOUR that has produced three
easy to listen to (again and again) CD's so far. I hope there is more to
come.
His 2nd CD Eastern Shore is particularly revealing about him and his
relationship with
life "on the water." The last track, Best Friend Too was an
especially moving song to me.
It is a personal work that he dedicated to his wife, Darlene.
About the Goose Lake CD
Reviewer: Wayne Frances
I received your CD today - thanks! Your guitar
work is excellent and your
arrangements are well thought out with nice dynamics in there. Great stuff!
Your vocals are very nice and well suited to the material, I like some of
the backgrounds you pan to the sides - very effective. All in all, very
enjoyable listening. Thanks a ton!
Reviewer: Robert
Just when you were staring to think how nice it would be to have
a CD filled with Paul Smith original songs, along comes Goose Lake. 100%
Paul Smith. Through words accompanied by the unique style of guitar playing,
you will be transported to restful places and recall memories of days gone by.
You will no doubt have your own favorites but please do not miss the
signature song Goose Lake and Why the Whippoorwill Cries, Days of Yesteryear,
Lesson of The Gull and Paul’s story told in the song Now is Now.
Thanks Paul… I am looking forward to CD number four…
Reviewer: Carter Rhoades
His lyrics convey pictures in your mind that leaves you satisfied,
relaxed and in anticipation for more of the CD. It is very well directed with soothing results.
In whole, Paul Smith offers wholesome entertainment that I think all can enjoy.
I highly recommend this CD.
The above people loved the CD's by Paul Smith, we're confident you will too!

21, 2006
July 16, 2006 - Lightfoot is about to go out on
tour again, with nearly 40 concerts scheduled in various
geographic locations around the US and Canada. He has already performed 15
concerts this year, between
January and May, but the bulk of his 2006 dates are in the second half of the
year. In addition, some US
dates are already announced for the first half of 2007, and an Atlantic Canada
tour is expected as well.
His 16 Canadian dates in the October and November of 2006
represent his largest number of Canadian
concerts in one year since 1993 when he performed more than 20 shows split
between the Spring and Fall.
He will be appearing in British Columbia (Prince George and Vancouver),
Alberta (Edmonton and Calgary),
Saskatchuan (Regina and Saskatoon), Manitoba (Winnipeg, 2 nights), Quebec
(Montreal) and Ontario
(Thunder Bay, Kitchener, Ottawa (2 nights), and Toronto (3 nights). These
concerts have been on sale since
February, and several of them are sold out. If you don't have tickets yet, you
should check into availability soon.
His 22 2006 US dates - from late July to late September -
include the east, Midwest and far west.
Eastern stops include Pennsylvania (Champion), New York (Big Flats and
Westhampton), Virginia (Vienna),
New Jersey (New Brunswick), New Hampshire (Concord), and Vermont (Burlington).
In the Midwest,
he will visit Michigan (Rochester Hills and Harris (2 nights)), Minnesota
(Minneapolis), Wisconsin
(Wausau, Whitewater, Madison and Milwaukee), and Illinois (Aurora). In the
west, he will stop in
Washington (Marysville), Oregon (Jacksonville), and California (Santa Rosa,
Redwood City,
Cerritos and San Diego).
The 2007 dates announced so far include additional stops in
the Northeast in April: Connecticut (Torrington),
Pennsylvania (Easton and Glenside), and New York (New York City and
Peekskill), plus Texas - a state
he hasn't visited recently. Texas stops, in June, include Austin, Fort Worth
and Houston.
With 16 dates in Canada, and 22 in the US in the 2nd half of
this year, Lightfoot is really hitting the concert trail.
You can look up the venues, cities and concert dates
and
learn more about Lightfoot and other wonderful folk artists at this web site
