About the song
In the winter of 2002 I had become sick, and my wife Darlene tended to me
throughout the whole thing. When I was feeling somewhat better, I wanted
to thank her for all that she did. So I wrote this song Best Friend Too. You
can still hear in my voice some remnants of the cold. Also, I called a
country music station WVES at 99.3 FM and requested that they play it on
our anniversary night. To my surprise, they did! I must say that Best
Friend Too was certainly a hit song in our house that night. Everyone was
all smiles. Darlene says that was the best wedding anniversary gift yet.
I recorded the broadcast then included the introduction and the WVES
concluding logo in the song track. I made a special trip down to Parksley,
Va. and got legal permission from the Program Director at WVES to do this.
