Measure

1.
If your ring finger measurement is
1 + 7/8 inches, or larger, then you should get Large
Picks.
2. If
it is exactly 1+ 7/8", you might want
to measure the other two fingers too.
If the other two are larger than 1+7/8",
you should get Large Picks.
3. If all your fingers are 1+7/8"
or smaller, you need Medium Picks.
We
don't want to send you the wrong size picks, so please measure to be sure!

Fitting
Plastic Finger Picks
Jim Dunlop plastic finger picks
as they come from the factory are not fitted to your fingers personally.
However, they can be made to fit just right. They should fit snuggly enough
that they don't come
flying off when playing but not so tight that they hurt after wearing them for a
while. If you buy finger picks
from this site, we will include instructions
with the picks about how to properly wear the picks and details
about how to accomplish a good comfortable, usable fit. Also included is
suggestions about how to identify
the picks quickly. Paul has done this many, many times, and these are his easy
to follow instructions and
suggestions. If you follow these, then your plastic finger picks will fit each
finger just right; they will feel and
work great, and they will be "your personal picks."
Customized Picks
Paul Smith
can further customize "your picks".
Paul has been using plastic finger picks since 1971. His years
of experience can be passed on to you this way.
These customized picks are actually individually reshaped by Paul
himself. Using only hand tools he reshapes the pick in his unique way to
make them easier to use. Then he polishes
the tongue of each
pick with steel wool to
make it a smooth
finish so the strings of the guitar will just role off with no
problems.
This customizing of the picks
helps to make them easier to get between the strings of
"Dreadnought
style" or "any steel" string guitars.
This customizing of picks is something that
Paul did for himself years ago and now he has found that it helps
others as well. It makes the picks more forgiving, less cumbersome,
and so they help people who are just
leaning to play with plastic picks. However, on a "classical", or "concert"
type guitar with "nylon strings", customized
picks although helpful, are not really necessary because the strings are
wider apart. Paul will also work on the thumb
pick
too. This will help prevent some of that annoying sound and the damage that comes with hitting the top of your
guitar with that pointy thumb pick as
it comes from the factory.
This extra custom job is all done by hand, personally by Paul Smith. It is well worth the extra money!
He would make more money working at McDonalds, but it is something he does because he wants to help people
learn to finger pick and he views it as a service he provides. They work great and can help
alleviate some of the
frustrations that comes with learning to
use plastic finger picks. You'll have a better feel
and more
control
while playing with these customized
picks. Also, it will make them even more "your picks."
